my little shadow

My little Shadow

I have a little shadow that always follows me
My little shadow tries to copy everything, you see.

My shadow trails and tags and peeks,
She follows me all around even when I try to sneak.

Sometimes I get tired of the constant pitter-patter of feet so small
Following so close behind me, up the stairs and down the hall.

But then I think of the day, when those tiny little feet,
Will wish to quickly be turning out the door and down the street.

So for now my sweet daughter, follow close and don't run to far or fast
Your mother loves her little shadow and will be sad when these days have passed.

I like to write; poems, journals anything and today I had to write this because lately this has seemed to be the case, Reese follows me everywhere and loves to sit thisclose to me. I have to keep in mind President Monson's conference talk, "Finding Joy in the Journey," and especially this quote.

"If you are still in the process of raising children, be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled will disappear all too soon and that you will—to your surprise—miss them profoundly."

I have really tried to enjoy the throngs of early motherhood that I am deep into at the moment, that small moment in my life and I need to cherish it completely, wholly. There really is something so special about it and I just need reminders of the sweet, tender joys that come with all the things that make motherhood the hardest job I will ever do.
