55 years ago today, this picture was taken
It was the V-J Day, the end of the war
August 14, 1945 I can only imagine the excitement
Two young people who had lived the last six years in wartime and suffered so much
It was a spontaneous and just the perfect reaction to the celebration
A victory kiss*
Six years ago today, this picture was taken
I was so happy, I was 18 and 11 months, he was 22We really had no idea what we were getting into
But we knew that we loved each other, looking back, I have decided I got so lucky.
We didn't really know what to expect but we had faith then and now
There are times when things get so hard and choices and circumstances are so grown-up that I do not even believe that I am old enough, mature enough or wise enough to be in this situation, but I know one thing that Bret will always be my choice for my victory kiss.
And there will always be a victory kiss.
I love you Bret, as we continue conquering life's battles, lets promise to end them all with a victory kiss.
xoxo

*We purchased the "Victory Kiss," photo on our honeymoon (we were so excited to discover that it was taken on the day of our wedding!) and it has been hung in our bedroom ever since. We like to seal all our victories with kisses!
